In 1962 there were many refugee children around. Girls hammered powder into firecrackers. Education was a privilege.

  • i saw my primary school in 1:34.!

    haha

it is in Wan Chai right?

    it has now been reconstructed.

  • I forgot whether it was Wanchai. Anyhow your response shows that I have another forever changed site in my clip. Thanks.

  • Thank u so much Mr.Rogge for your priceless record of the old Hong Kong. In 1964, I was about to enter 1st grade in school. As u have metioned in the other clip that parents would save every penny for to send their children to school to pursue a better future. I remembered my mum had waken up at five in the morning to line in queue for getting registration forms from good schools for me. Through all the hard work, patience and dedication of the old generation did HK succeed to blossom. THANKS!!

  • How right you are. Glad to hear that your mother's efforts were not in vain.

  • Life is so simple than.

  • Children in those days wrote a lot better than most adults nowadays.

  • Thank you very much, Mr. Michael Rogge. It was my neighbourhood and school. I miss it, because I am thousands miles away. Thanks again to bring back my memory.

  • Thank you. your videos are awesome! watching them reminds me of my parents and their experience growing up in HK during this time.

  • Once again another gem of a video from you, really some of the best I have seen on youtube. Priceless.
