i think the small battery is for the time memory. ore date memory. so that you don't have to type in the date every time your filming. ( i would guess so) :C)

I actually have this camcorder. I wouldn't say it's the rolls royce of affordable camcorders but it's definately an awesome camera for the 550-600 price. You really do get what you pay for. There are actually a couple other cheaper camcorders that shoot in HD also. But the quality isn't as good. The HD thing is just a sales gimmick. You also need to consider other factors like the quality of the lense, battery, ease of use, features, etc. Just gotta do your own research.

Which Camera would you say is the ROLLS ROYCE of camcorders that are affordable?? For instance I was thinkin of buying this until I read your comment, is there any camera shooting in 1080i that is around this price? In other words is there a better "bang" for my "buck"?? Thanks!
