2002 Dodge Durango 4.7 vs 2008 Chevrolet Colorado 4x2

My durango (light modifications,CAI,Flowmaster) 4x2 4.7 versus my friends 2008 Chevy Colorado 4x2 2.9(flowmaster 50-series muffler). His truck isnt all that slow neither it holds its own. The 2.9's pushing 185hp/190ft.lbs stock and only weighing 3100 i believe while the durangos 235hp/295ft.lbs weighing 4300. And i assure you we both gunned it at the same time i was just half a car-length behind him because of us both pulling onto RT.4 off of a side road. I got the 0-60 in a very low 7 on that one, And I've seen him pull a 0-60 in an 8 before he put the muffler on.

Easiest way is to take off the airbox and the other airbox muffler then take a straight piece of intake tubing and clamp to the throttle body and have the other side clamped with some kind of conical filter.(I would reccomend K&N).

Those 2.9's are quick as hell for a 4 banger truck! My dad has an S-10 with the 2.2 4cyl and it barely moves out of its own way! Chevy did great with the 4cyl Colorado for what it is, I just wish they'd use a v6 or maybe a v8 (wishful thinkin) instead of that shitty inline 5cyl.

well the new colorados and canyons offer the 5.3 v8 surprisingly...but yeah his 2.9 is pretty impressive especially compared to the cavalier based 2.2

YUP IN MY FRIENDS OWNER MANUAL THEY how show the 5.3 in the engine bay and i had a panflit from GM that shows that they were offering it this year, i've only seen like 2 on the road

Is it true that most of the 4.7s are considered a mini hemi because they all have hemisphereical heads..I have the 4.7 in my dak and can keep up with a mustang Gt.

Wow that durango runs good! Had a lightly modded 01 qc dakota with a 4.7 and 5spd man. For some reason they are just quick! The only time I got a run for my money was against a 4.0 sohc ranger. Just couldn't pull on him. Best e/t 15.5 @ 88 spinning 2nd and 3rd. How has your automatic held up?
