Good question azbatman. The director keeps everyone in synch....acapella has no accompaniment, so singing together depends on hearing each other...not always easy in a chorus setting. Dynamics, breathing, attacks and releases, vocal expression, and phrasing are all cued by the Director so that the chorus performs as rehearsed.
