Obama Inauguration closes streets and bridges

Obama Inauguration Alert - A special note for Virginia visitors: All bridges inside the Washington Beltway that cross the Potomac and many other streets will be closed. Only charter buses and presumably hotel buses will be allowed into the city on Inauguration Tuesday. Washington, DC planners are preparing for millions of attendees and apparently there is little room or tolerance for cars. SUGGESTION: If you are staying in a Virginia and plan to attend the Inaugural, check with hotels for bus accommodation or find parking close to the main Potomac bridges and walk across to the mall or take public transportation where the transit lines begin to ensure you get a seat. Public transportation in DC cannot accommodate the number of visitors planning to attend; however, planners are working through all of these issues and may run special buses and routes.
