The song "Journey From Mariabronn" appeared on the first, self-titled Kansas album in 1974. It is based on the novel "Narcissus and Goldmund" by Hermann Hesse, who included many autobiographic references to his early life in Maulbronn Abbey, aptly renamed as "Mariabronn" in his novel.
