@vonrikety Except you're completely wrong. NASA knew pencils worked but they wanted to find a way to make a ball point pen work , They didnt even spend that much money on it.
@vonrikety And what if the pencils breaks, specifically in a time of peril? Should the Cosmonauts then resort to writing with a bloody finger? A pencil sharpener was neither prudent (the shavings would have to be contained) nor was it timely.
