Bah! When Random levels up he usually gets only 2 hp a level... Is this a glitch in the GBA version, that Red Mages receive little benefits from leveling? Anyways, this is Random the Red Mage vs Garland, one on one. So far, it's been easy, a lot easier then the NES or PSX version.

  • What game is this? FFIII on GBA?

  • It is a remake of Final Fantasy 1 for the GBA the original is for the NES but there also is a PSX and PSP version. I suggest playing the PSX or NES versions cuz the GBA and PSP versions are easy as hell.

  • I'm really worried for Cornelia's security, seeing as they have none who could stand up to Garland, weak as he is. In his defense, he was up against four mages at once... but three of them were dead.

  • Suck on that Garland.

Red Mage fights without logic or reason. Those things only get in the way.

  • No It's not a glitch, Red Mages are still considered mages, and although they are good with a sword, they are still mages and don't really get a lot of HP increases. It's also because Red Mages are balanced characters. Their HP is always in proportion with their MP. It's just the cost of being a Jack of all trades and a master of nothing. I actually call Red Mages my favorite class.

  • @bleys64 not to mention the PSP version, maybe its just me, but I think they nerfed the black mage and monk, because I have played and beat the NES, PSX, GBA and PSP versions and the monk and black mage were my favorites for they could dish out nonsensical amounts of damage, now the black mage dopesnt do shit, its like he caps out halfway through, and the monk dies far more often than it ever used to.

But maybe its just me o_O

  • wow i would have loved to be able to cast fire that many times on the original

  • Actually, Red Mage is always a strong class. Benefits between Thief and Fighter, both black and white magic plus a fair defense level.

  • Fog/Protect is garbage compared to Ruse/Blink. He should have gotten Cure, Fire or Lit and saved the spot for Ruse/Blink if he's going class change. If he's doing a true Red Mage run, i.e. no class change then it's not important anyways since he'll still be able to use the Defense Sword for that spell, and it trumps Fog/Protect by far. Besides, I think Red Mages can still get Fog2/Protera which works better anyways.

  • Bah, on the ogrinal Final Fantasy I can solo Garland at level 1. xD

  • I'm surprised you didn't get Protect, it's amazing at this point. Way batter than Thunder. It does about the same damage as an attack I've noticed.
