Its obvious that George RR Martin doesn't give a rats ass about his fans, all he cares about is stroking his own ego

Dude, it's not a production line. People need to focus on other things and do other stuff to revive themselves. Not everyone can write thousands of pages a year. There are a thousand times more great books in existence than any person can read in a lifetime. Try something else. Or, if you don't like waiting, don't start a series until its finished.

Yeah, Dunk and Egg wouldn't work because people just wouldn't care. Robert's rebellion would be epic but it would ruin what is likely the biggest reveal in the series, it's a rough spot.

Martin?! When does the next book come out?!

I'll figure I'll ask quite a few more times, so he starts killing the Stark loyalists as well, one have to be ruthless if one want to secure a strong Bolton rule in the North. Beside, Roose and Ramsay could need some new Stark coats to ride around in...

Dunk and Egg! (But *their* story is not finished, either...)

Or maybe the war that de-throned the Targaryens? (But that'd reveal important details that have not yet made it into the series, and thus spoil some critical turns in the final two novels...)

Apparently not, according to a recent article on The Daily Beast. The kids will be a year older and the show will lose momentum, and they would be telling stories of characters no one has heard of. Very likely the show will go ahead without the final books, considering Martin's incredibly slow writing pace.
