This aria is from the cantata BWV 6 "Bleib bei uns, denn es will Abend werden". Bach wrote it for soprano, cello piccolo obligato and b.c. Later on he arranged this aria for organ solo as one of the six Schuebler Choräle with BWV nr. 649. I play this aria on cornet and organ simultaneously. First I play the 4-parts setting and afterwards the aria, the soprano part on the cornet, the cello part with my left hand on the manual and the b.c. on the pedals. As in the cantata I play two verses. The organ has been built in the year 1822 by the Dutch organ builder Timpe for the Martinus Church at Middelbert (The Netherlands). In 1977 it has been partly restored by Mense Ruiter. It is still in the original state. My cornet is from the brass instrument factory Getzen (U.S.A.). Info: www.gerardvanreenen.nl
