John "Toast" Oast and Dan Hart of Fishyaker.com demonstrate how easy it is to install a fish finder onto a sit-on-top kayak. All that is needed is a fish finder with cables and transducer, sandpaper, Marine Goop or epoxy, mounting hardware, a screwdriver, and a drill. Make sure you allow the glue to fully dry before moving the kayak. Most any 12 volt hobby battery can be used as a power source. Check out the Fishyaker Youtube site for more kayak fishing how-to's. I have a sit in Kayak and as such do not a have a flat spot pointing straight down on the hull to mount the transducer. What would be the best way to mount one in this case?

Is there a fairly flat spot just behind the seat? If not, you can make a bracket to place on the rudder mount area. If you shoot at an angle it will not be very accurate.

Hi fishyaker, did you use a specific in-hull transducer or were you able to use the transom transducer? I understand about the air bubble issue just wondering about the transducer needed.

Sorry for the delay... Just make sure the bottom of the puck is flat. I have used standard H-birds and agles with no problem at all. Cheers!

Great video.Did you just stick that transducer to the floor of the kayak?Please help me lol.New to kayaking and dont reele no what im doing.lol

Really easy...
Just find a centered spot inside the hull, and rough it up with sandpaper. Then glue down the puck. Make sure there are no air bubbles in the glue though, or resolution will be affected.
