"je l'aime à mort" = "i love her to death"
"à mort" sounds like "amor", Spanish word for "love"
So this guy kinda combines "death" with "love" (in Spanish), I guess that's why he uses the Spanish "I love you": "Te quiero". He simply plays with words.
