Laptops demanded greater investment in research and development by the time, i am sure Steve could see portables as the future computer (even the first macintosh had a handle). Also, as soon as he and nextstep were "merged" with apple, and bucks were coming, portables were among the first things he "has brought" to the product strategy.

The only draw back of NeXTStep was that they never manufactured NeXT laptops. I wonder how he did this keynote? did he bring a full size NeXT desktop computer?
