Mark does a credible presentation here of New Monasticism. Maybe I should add Mark to my Core Radicals page on my website. If you wish to gaine a better understanding of New Monasticism you might enjoy surffing my webpage.
I agree. There is no biblical support for a New Monasticism as taught. We went through a New Mon teaching program in my own church and nearly everyone who knows their Bibles has left. Only a few young ones are left. No one cared that ppl left and if I disagreed with anything said it always led to an argument (New Monasitic term is 'debate' same as argument), so I now refer to it as Neo-Monasticim or New-Fascism. It is on the Spring Harvest program this y (UK). Don't waste your time on it.
To be honest, I disagree. What did Paul say in 1Co 7:29-35? Everyone has different callings in Christ and monastics have done wonders after responding to their callings. Nuns in Europe used to run hospitals and schools. I thought that was pretty cool.

There is no biblical support for a New Testament Church concept of Monasticism. Yes, the early church had "all things in common" but that is much different than the concept of Monasticism.
A biblical model of the Christian life is much different that the historic Monasticism or even the "new" Monasticism.
well cowboy, no one ever claimed it as a brand new idea. and it is a far cry from the "social gospel". the social gospel is without christ. this is different. this is taking your faith and living out the gospel as one feels led. you would be hard pressed to find this to be heresy. we throw that word around alot. live it like you know it mark.
to anyone who thinks that their church this is the best - "if you think you have found the perfect church, don't join it because then you'll ruin it"

Ohhh you, northamerican evangelical war-mongers!!
And then it isn't antibiblical your belief in a republican God?
And no, you dan't have to join a monastic comunity. As a southamerican I just hope from you to don't support imperialism anymore.
