For those who wanted to hear what an electrically-recorded 78 sounds like on my Artophone, here's Victor 19845, Roger Wolfe Kahn and His Orchestra playing "I'm Sitting On Top Of The World," recorded in New York City, November 13, 1925 (a nice Orthophonic recording). The "Artophone" phonograph itself is all-acoustic reproduction.
Featured in the band (among others) are:
Tommy Gott & Leo McConville, trumpets
Chuck Campbell, trombone
Arnold Brilhart, clarinet
Joe Venuti, violin
Arthur Schutt, piano
Vic Berton, drums
Enjoy!
Great late 20s victrola! Has that orthophonic tone system down pat. Sounds very good. Your Wolfe Kahn is interesting as it is electric but has the older acoustic label still. Victor should have thought more of the marketing of the new orthophonic records and had the scroll label ready in 1925. Oh, i forgot the reason. it was to impress the first ortho phono buyers in the store! Salesman would play an acoustic 78 on the old victrola, then play this electric same label 78 on the orthophonic!

Great sound! Nice hot jazzy tune too. I've never heard of Artophone before. Where were Artophone's made? Thanks.

Bixvenuti, What a charming little phonograph. Looks like a mini-Credenza! And it sounds fantastic! Thanks for sharing. Regards, J.
