Meera Khan: Horsing around

Remember Pakistani actress Meera Khan? Meera vanished from the social and filmy scene with only a couple of utterly forgettable films and lots of generated controversies back home to her name. But, now Meera is making a re-entry into Bollywood with Jhansi ki Rani- Laxmibai, wherein she plays the historic lead character. Recently, an interesting first look of the film was unveiled and a bejewelled Meera mounted a horse to pose for the cameras. The actress looked quite convincing while brandishing a sword, in a sari and a matching turban. “I’m lucky I got to play this character, and I’m sure I won’t disappoint my audience,” she said hopefully. Meera, it seems has been on a two month training regime for horse riding and sword fighting, but what about direct competition from another more popular, more successful actress? That Sushmita Sen was the first to announce a project based on the Rani of Jhansi is a well known fact. What does she have to say about the professional rivalry and comparisons? “There should be a healthy competition. But the competition should be on screen and not in real life. My best wishes are with her (Sush) and I’m sure her best wishes are with me,” she said.
