Back about 20 some odd years ago, faking peace medals was big business for antique shops, charlitans and traveling "traders". There was a guy in Kingsport, Tn who was stamping them out like candy. This one is likely as fake as the "chief" presenting it for the real deal. As far as $300,000, you could buy these fake peace medals for 50 bucks.
false information. doesn't explain the diaspora of Cherokee from East Tennessee to Middle Tennessee, or that Lawrenceburg was Chicasa - Chickasaw, or that the Cherokee were as new as the whites & blacks that were moving into the area too, or that the subsequent treaties moved the Cherokee to the south, or that Joe White & his people have no proven connection to the Cherokee or the land in that period.
it's just plain _bad_ history because it's a constructed fiction. check the facts first.
ululotsa!!!. One there are no reservations in Oklahoma two this sitting owl is not a legitimate chief, and the so called central band is not a federal recognized tribe. its kinda sad....
What a proud day -- Central Band of Cherokee - of which I am a PROUD member gained their Tennessee State Recognition today. Onward & upward. Wado to our Creator.
Thsi is good to see the history of our fellow Cherokee family. May one day we of the same history be rejoined as one family, no longer spread accross the earth. Wado
