@jones81381 Yeah totally, the whole flip phone fad in the 90s, and yeah the ipad, touch interfaces, surface etc. The people who "designed" these all watched startrek as kids!

Teh Future O_O

@jones81381 maybe someone will be smart enough to defy the law of physics one day...
-
@OrionSyndicate It also predicted a third world war. One step at a time!

Janeway was better then Sisko period. Sisko managed a floating casino basically. Kirk was ok for his time but really overrated. Picard was best, followed by Janeway, then Archer and Kirk tied for hamminess.

@msinvincible2000 I wasn't a fan, it lacked quality in my opinion. Janeway was also my least favorite Captain, I never connected with her compared to Kirk, Picard and Sisko.

@Fadewhisper hey, Voyager is the best series: they explore a new territory and have great characters like TOS, have a great united crew like TNG, and they have the best captain: Janeway a mixture of what was best in Kirk and Picard

@mrteemumilto Yes it is Star Trek, TNG and DS9 were based along his designed. A shame they went astray with Voyager... :/

@OrionSyndicate The thing with medical research is that the pharmaceutical companies are in business for profit. If you "treat" an illness with a lifetime of medication, you get rich from the repeat business. If you "cure" an illness you only have a one time sell. They have no incentive to cure most diseases because that would kill their profits, no matter how expensive a cure is. This is why I think that medical care and pharmaceuticals should be provided by the gov't and free for all citizens.

@jones81381 Too bad companies like Apple only focus on the phones and tablets from Star Trek... What about the medical scanners that fit in the palm of your hand, and hyposprays full of cures to all kinds of diseases? Where are the shuttlecraft? Starships? Transporters? Star Trek predicted a world without poverty. Cures for diseases. Humanity spreading out across our solar system and beyond. I feel ripped off. All I got was a flat screen tv, desktop computer, and a lousy cell phone.
So much of today's technology was inspired by what was seen on Star Trek and similar Sci-Fi shows. It just goes to prove that unless something clearly defies the laws of physics, if you can imagine, it could someday be a reality if the right people work with the idea.
