I'm sorry for the poor video and audio quality in this demonstration, we really need to borrow a better camera next time. Also, sorry about the goof when Dynamite wouldn't connect and I took too long to press Cancel and reconnect.

Anyway...

This is a demonstration of the awesome online multiplayer game Dynamite, which is kind of a clone of Bomberman/Dynablaster, except you can play with up to eight people over the internet. The game is very configurable, I have it set in a 320x240 window but you can set other sizes, or let the game resize itself to fit the game map. You can install and choose from a bunch of different theme/skins and sound effects. The game uses AHI and remaps to your Workbench screen, so it's playable on RTG and AGA systems.

The second program is AmiNetRadio, which is a music and online radio player. It uses standard WinAmp skins, MUI, or its own custom GUI. It has various player plugins and options, and also uses AHI, so if you have a sound card you can get even nicer sound than from Paula. Sorry for skipping through the stations so quickly, next time I'll choose them more carefully and use a better camera to record it so you can hear the music better.

The computer I'm using is an Amiga 1200 with a DKB Mongoose 68030/50Mhz with 32MB RAM running AmigaOS 3.1, Directory Opus Magellan, Miami TCP, Workbench 2000, and running in 1024x768 thanks to the Indivision AGA Scandoubler/FlickerFixer.

  • why you dont get a mc 68060, is a little cheap in this moment

  • Not cheap enough for me, I'm afraid. I'm quite poor. Some day though, with some luck I will have a 060 Amiga! (Or a Natami)

  • wow, this is absolutely fantastic. amazing what you can do with a 50 MHz amiga ! pity about the audio.

btw, is this the famous 16 color palette ?

  • @jarjar2b

That's right, this is Rebel's 16 colour palette. You miss out on the dithering because of the blurriness of the video, but it's still nice enough to look at in real life.

  • This is stupid, YouTube cut the audio out, making the demonstration of AmiNetRadio useless!

  • Who's holding the camera?

  • Smooth though I have to say I don't like that Windows style...

  • This nice :o)

One day I hope someone will program a carbon copy of Gauntlet and make it run in 640x512 mode so it's 400% more screen acreage and let 4 people play it over the net...ONLY on classic Amigas!! :oP

  • @AmigaCammy

I think that Natami will better option because, has better chipset and will have a graphical power near to PSP.

  • @harleykman

I'ts just Amiga magic. You cannot explain it really.

And I'm as old as that computer also...love it.

  • I'm personally 'surprised' and 'amazed' a certain individual wasn't able to differentiate Motorola CPU architecture. The comparatives of external clock speeds is contextual nonsensical and depreciative of their respective eras. G4 is RISC (1999) and 68030 is CISC (1987).

This lady's A1200 68030@50mhz is more than sufficient to ensure a satisfactory CPI performance capacity. For the record her 'old crap' has capabilities to support both CPUs.

    I'm a teenager too; heh.

  • Um...

    .

Why is a teenager using a computer from ~20 years ago? Most teens wouldn't even touch that "old crap" much less do a demo. I'm surprised

    .

I'm also amazed to see this is only 50 megahertz. I recently tried to run an old G4 mac with 400 megahertz, and it ran as slow as a snail. I can't imagine going all the way back to only 50 MHz
