Topsky 1 DLG Maiden flights

Super windy this afternoon but want to see how the Topsky flys...
Made the throwing peg a little too sharp and it busted up a bit of my finger but other than that it was awesome!
Got some lift off the sheds at one stage - was really cool! :P
Just regluing my wing spacers cause they ended up a little loose..

When you launch it, do you use launch mode switch? I am just over 5 feet tall so angling the plane down would be a problem during launch. I have never launched a dlg but I have a sky surfer rc electric sailplane. I am not sure if I should buy a plane this nice and fragile.

@jasonfriedman1 Hi, No not at all, the very first launch I just spun around slowly and gave it a gentle push, its really too easy. I was worried about breaking it too but the only damage it gets is from mishandling around the home and car as the wingtip trailing edges are VERY delicate. Its great fun to fly and probably one of my favorites!

@joogsiethequaker i have never really built a plane, but i am going to try to build this. of course i am going to get help, but i hope it turns out ok.

@jasonfriedman1 Make sure you get someone to help, its a pain to build! and if its not done right (rudder off to the side or not 90 degrees to the elevator/wings) it will fly shitty :(

Google some build logs for it and study a few different builds before you start is probably the best tip I can give.

And buy some good gloves to work with the epoxy, it gets messy ;)

Does it have ailerons?

@magicmike1122 Hehe no way! :) I need any exercise I can get & Its cool when you find some warm air and figure out the best way to use it... plus its totally legal to fly em in my shire, cant do powered (even rubber band powered) planes ?!?!

@joogsiethequaker Was it too windy at first? Then you started to toss the DG like a Discus was it just as windy then?

@wilkothewiz It's awesome fun! just do some stretches if you normally laze about... :) Its really easy to throw up, I was pretty nervous but I just watched youtube videos of them and it just feels natural to throw.
