I agree. There is no excuse for not verifying this stuff anymore. People whom are ill informed are simply too lazy to do the checking. Sad, really.

You're right. It's absolutely insane what people want to say or think about Obama and the progressive stance in general, which I don't believe Obama is that progressive or liberal at all.

I really think faux news is a huge part of the blame. Many many people use that as their ONLY source of political knowledge.

You know who lives off the system, sometimes for their entire lives? Prisoners. This country spends a staggering amount of money rooming and boarding its prison population. But you won't hear conservatives talking about reforming the legal system, or reclassifying minor felonies into misdemeanors. Because there's nothing that says Freedom like having the world's largest prison population.

Productivity growth means that less people are required to do the same work, products get cheaper, and bigger companies make more money while wages stay as low as possible. Wealth accumulates in a minority's hoard and the middle class gets smaller, as long as society maintains its blind faith in infinite growth. And the faithful have the nerve to complain that the increasing number of poor people dare to like staying alive. What happened to human dignity? What happened to social conscience?

If these cousins lost their jobs this week, I'm pretty damn sure they'd be looking for a little government help to get them through until they were able to get on there feet again.

How many of the my fellow "older" citizens show up at these "anti-socialist welfare state" rallies, supported by government programs? A LOT, I'd argue.
