A friend of mine owns a piece of land with a beautiful house on it close to the town of Nanyuki on the slopes of Mount Kenya. I went to visit him for the weekend to get out of Nairobi's fuss, noise and exhaust fumes. A nice three-hour drive north takes you through one of Kenya's most green and fertile regions. Let caretaker Lawrence inform you on the big population of elephants in the region, learn about magnetic forces around the equator, check a tree house fish farm and visit Africa's second largest open air market at Karatina.
