This video will show how to set up differnt instruments for the keyboard setion and/or pads on a midi controller. By the end the user wi be able to set up a drum kit for example on the pads and a piano on the keyboard withough having any convlicting MIDI data.

This video touches on:
* Setting up the layout page
* Filtering through MIDI Channel data
* Sample loading and triggering in the ESX24
* Tailioring instruments for MIDI channels in the 'edit' window

Any problems or other queries just drop me a post and i'll try my best to help you out if I can. I'm a newbie to Mainstage but use it quite a bit so fingers crossed I should know the answer.

Cheers guys, please leave a comment or thumbs up if this helped you out :)

  • Hi Poul

Thanks fore the tube. That's exactly what I was locking for. I followed the instructions but I have that same problem as described below!? Do you think its a Axiompro-, Mainstage- or a MIDI-setup problem?

  • @olsensolsen Hey man! OK so i think i know what the problem is, check out my other video, I think the missing key is the little 'MIDI activity' control you need in you layout page, you need to just throw 2 of these in your setup and assign one to be channel 1, and the other channel 10. Please check my other video you'll see them on that video. (2 small little circles that glow yello wwhen MIDI is sent through)

  • Also although i've got it working without this. In the layout window, drop in 2 'MIDI Activity' controls, they look like eyes that glow yellow when active. Click on one then over in the left colomn (Stilli in the layout page) make sure the 'device' is set to your keyboard and in the box below labelled 'channel' make sure set it 1. Then with the 2nd MIDI activity control do the same and make it Channel 10. Then try the above again. Good luck.

  • Hey guys, i've posted up another video (depended on when you read this, it might still be uploading) which may help you. All i'd say is make sure your 'keyboard' in the layput page is set to Channel 1, and all you PADS set to channel 10. Then in the edit page, click on your instrument channel way over the right of the screen. Then in the middle partition where you change all bits and bobs, make sure you've selected your keyboard name on only channel 1!! It's under the MIDI input tab.
