  • hey how much did you buy your tank for because this person is selling a 220 gallon pentagon tank for 780 in my area with a really cool stand and canopy made out of tiles. and and skimmer and pump

  • @jarederajarederaj I spent too much for my setup. I bought all new and custom so the tank was $1500 and the tank canopy combo I had a cabinet maker make for me on his spare time for about $900. That's not including the life support system for the tank (pumps, sumps, lights, protien skimmers, etc.) $780 is a good price if the tank is not leaking.

  • The difference between the two is about 10" the Greys max out at about 30 inches and the black or brown banded grow to about 42 inches. Greys are also a little lighter, they keep a faint stripe as they age and there pectoral fins are more rounded than a black or brown banded

  • For filtration all I use is a 30 gallon sump, with a filter sock and an RPS 4000 protein skimmer. Change out the sock twice a week and every 6 weeks do about a 75 gallon water change. Your water should be fine as long as you check your nitrate levels about the same time you change out your filter socks

  • For lights I am using about 10ft of actinics, 2ft of white light and 1 14K metal halide. The fluorecents run 16 hours a day and the halide runs 7 hours

  • Used polycarbonate (bullet proof glass) for the rock work. You just take 3/4" rod and chemically weld it to some 1/4" plate and take your biggest rock pieces and drill a 3/4" hole through the rock and then hang it. The rest of the rock is just placed.
