@lpurple1500 ITS SO ENTERTAINING!

@fube432 Yah in that sense those masks saved lots of lives for few minutes until they hit the ground. And if sensor fails all in plane have great attraction with masks.
-
@ProzacR That's not true. THere's a sensor that automaticlly releases the masks, the pilot doesn't press a button. And for any rapid decopression, those masks have saved many lives. They probably don't survive because the plane crashes.
-
@DominicM2005 There's sensor that senses that the pressure in the cabin is not right, usually because there's a hole in the plane. The masks are on a panel above your seat, and the system automaticlly opens the panel, and they drop down. Nothing forces them down. THen there's a machine that has oxygen in it for about 10-12 minutes. That should be enough time for a rapid descent to a safe altitude.

This guy talking sounds condescending.

@lpurple1500 because it's AWESOME

@DominicM2005 pilot has to press "we are in sh1t button". No known cases where oxygen mask saved anyone, but in two cases of oxygen mask malfunction people suffered. one oxygen generator exploded killing person and one woman suffered brain damage because of hypoxia. Some older oxygen masks produce fire-like smell and create extra panic.
