Starting on Halloween weekend of 2010, Green Tree, made up of Peter Beiser, Sean Dunnevant, and Sahil Ansari, three seniors at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, MD, embarked on a project that, at the time, was nothing more than part of a series of casual home-recordings, which can be heard at www.purevolume.com/Green_Tree. They chose to cover Excuses by the Morning Benders, a beautiful song characterized by sweeping violins, simple vocal harmonies, and lyrics that would bring a smile to anybody's face. Best described as a "wall of sound," this recording has as many as 30 different tracks at any given time. This project, which was Green Tree's first video recording, took over 2 months of slow editing and periodic guest appearances in the studio, including Gabe Slesinger on trumpet, Milan Dhar on french horn, Clara McCreery on violin, and John An on vocals. The final cut of the video includes footage from all the recording takes as well as some shots of local foliage, basement conversation, and the much overdue shaving of a certain somebody's beard. It would hardly be an overstatement to say that, in a musical sense, this is one of the biggest projects we have embarked on. Sadly, due to college applications, school work, etc., it got lost in the white noise. That is, until today, when finally we get to share our hard work with the world. We hope this video brings you the pleasure that it has brought us over the last few months as a culmination of so, so many things. Enjoy.
