If the stimulus is not the right antidote to get our economy moving again, what is? That's the first thing you should be discussing before you send everyone on a telephone/email mission to nowhere.

I'm concerned that so many people are willing to accept the propaganda put out by the administration and the media, without taking the time to read the bill and understand where the money is actually going and what little chance it has of being successful. Want an example?  Read my link in the video description about the broadband stimulus. I'd be interested to know what you think.

The biggest joke of the day on the stimulus package is that the Congress Critters voting on this turkey of a bill, only got the final document at 11:00 PM last night, now we are supposed to believe htat they are going to read 400 pages, digest and understand it, in time to intelligently vote on it today. Any Congress person who votes for this bill and claims to know what is in it, is an outright liar.

Mighty, you're right.She doesn't do a good enough job explaining why we should stop the bill. So I will attempt to explain why this bill will further destroy the dollar. We must understand that it isnt a stimulis bill, that's just the title. If Bills actually did what their titles said we would have ended criminality, starvation,poverty & americans would have the ability to fly. It is a spending bill, more properly titled. We are in this mess because of overspending. Spending more, is insanity.

We didn't stop it but they (the Dems) own it with a couple exceptions but overall it's a Dem bill. Let them choke on it when it costs them their Congress seats... though we're going to have to suffer through the consequences as well I'm afraid.

as everyone can see, nw that the bill was passed, dems don't need even one republican vote to push thru the "change". they will continue to do this as "boldly and swiftly" as possible, right on til election day 2010. by that time, even if they lose power in congress, it will be too late to overturn all the change they put us through. so- don't go thinking that we'll fix their wagon, next election time. we'd better come up with something sooner than that, and it's not coming from old fart repubs

"We" are not the "minority", Shelly, with all due respect. Poll after poll shows that the American public is opposed to these stimulus bills by large margins. Last fall, when the first bailout bill went before the Congress, something like 85-90 percent of the public opposed it. Dianne Feinstein notoriously went on the floor of the Senate and admitted that her constituents flooded her phones in opposition, but then said she'd vote for the bill anyway. We are the Majority. We are the People.

what people tend to forget, when companies "go down" they dont always disappear. a sufficiently large manufacturer (like a car assembly line) would get purchased for pennies, restructured, fat trimmed, and re-started pretty quickly. most of old workers would be rehired for very pragmatic reason - they dont need retraining. what will be lost is all the inefficiencies that caused the company to bankrupt. which is good news for everybody.
