Inspiring Story of Zach Woolley

The second Zach Woolley heard that a 6-year-old girl in Poland needed a new wheelchair, he was on a mission. Zach, a young man with cerebral palsy, didn't know how he would get a child-size wheelchair halfway around the world, but he was committed to making it happen.

The story began a couple of years ago. Krystyna Gawlik, a craft maker, designed a beautiful Christmas ornament based on Zach and his service dog. The ornaments sold in stores upwards of $75, with the proceeds going to United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Birmingham. Gawlik sent her design to Poland for an artist to carve her mold. When the ornament arrived, the carver wept. His young daughter, Zuzia, also has cerebral palsy. The carver told Gawlik how his daughter could never sit comfortably because all she had was an adult-size wheelchair.

With the help of United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Birmingham, Zach changed all that.
