Radical Cheerleaders for Animal Rights perform in front of Scamps store inside Lloyd Center Mall to bring attention to scamps history of selling puppies from puppy mills. After the performance, an activist is aggressively detained by mall security resulting in angry shoppers expressing their disgust with the security guards.

Scamps pet store was recently exposed in an undercover report by KGW Channel 8s Anne Yeager, who obtained veterinary records and interviewed multiple victims who have purchased sick and genetically defective puppies from Scamps. The story also tells how Scamps buys from puppy mills.

Scamp's Pet store (located in Lloyd Center) is fond of saying their puppies come from kennels that are licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) implying that this offers some level of assurance regarding health and humane standards. The reality is that thousands of dogs spend much of their lives in cramped, cold and filthy cages as "breeding stock". In these USDA-approved conditions, adults and puppies are squeezed together, compete for food or water (if any is available) and endure a lifetime in tiny wire cages which damage their paws. They never get to feel the grass, have a toy, a treat, or chase a ball. Many go cage crazy running around in endless circles, driven mad by the frustrating hours of boredom and loneliness.

  • 0:20 I thought the security guard was going to join in when he started clapping. Pity he didn't, 'cos with 5 of you, you could have made a 2 on 3 pyramid.

    Missed opportunities make me sad.

  • Wow, you have to commend their spirit in a great cause!

  • Security people can order you off the premises they are patrolling without reason. Stores/malls are private property and people do not have a right to protest and disturb the other shoppers.

That said, I do believe puppy mills are disgusting and should be shut down but you're not going to get very far if you keep getting arrested for trespassing.

They should have stood on public property outside with signs and protested THERE, not inside on private property.

  • and yes i do look hot in this video. And no i didnt fail at becoming a "Real" police officer. I have no desire to be a police officer.

  • Wow, 2 years later you guys are still watching this. I love the comments supporting me and my coworkers. Just to clarify for those of you that don't know or are just to dumb to know, under most if not all state laws a private citizen (which security officer's are) van make a citizens arrest if a crime is committed in their presents. in this situation the crime that was committed was criminal trespass.

  • @jmeckle1 yes ... she is no mere mortal, she is super concerned citizen with far surpassing intellect. Da da DA!

  • tramps vs scamps :-D

  • i support animals rights but those radicals r going about it the wrong way. the security personal did the right thing and should have been more harsh

  • I have read things and watched video's about pet stores and their abuse toward the animals they sell or buy, and I agree with protesting about it but don't you wan't to just buy your animal and get it out of the bad enviornment instead of starting all kinds of trouble for everyone by over filling an animal shelter? I just purchased a gerbil from a pet store and he looked horrible before I took him out of the enviornment he was in, now I'm sitting here watching him run around his aquarium happy.

  • thanks for the upload
