For the first time in a dozen years, a lucky group of passengers is riding through one of the south eastern United State's most scenic rail routes between Spencer and Asheville, NC. The train is now crawling down the steep grade toward the Old Fort Loops on its return trip, exiting one of several tunnels near the crest of the line. Thanks to my girlfriend for taking video while I shot stills!

  • I know where this spot is now! I visited it last week and caught a westbounder struggling along at about 10 mph and a few wild turkeys as well...

  • Is this on the east side of the Ridgecrest Tunnel?

  • How did you get to this location if you don't mind me asking?
