His guitar solo in Pretty Noose when they performed live on SNL is one of my favorites!!! So much more intense than the studio version, IMO...

There is an amazing Thayil solo on Hand of God off Screaming Life, its my personal fav of Thayil's

thing about thayil, kind of a minimalist soloer, lost of songs have solos just barely within audible focus, so most of his really good solos are hard to hear on album

@Crispyconcerto I know what you mean about that, Its a bit of a shame that some of his solo's are either dimmed down or just drowned out but lets look forward to a killer album this year=]

pretty good list. But come on, you need beyond the wheel on there. At least put it as a honourable mention. I thought your list was pretty good, but no way are they the best solos (though still very good). You didn't really seem to go beyond superunknown apart from the exception of the Bleed Together.

@TheLazyJT I was Thinking That Myself. i picked my favourites from the later few of the bands albums but i'll come up with one with earlier work too
