The Protestant Reformation. is the reason people fled from europe, because they were tired of being told by priest and kings that they were not worthy to speak to God on their own, when the very purpose of the New Testement was just that. in other words refused to pay for forgivness because Christ assured us this gift is free. hence the 95 theses Martin Luther nailed to the door of the Church, because he knew the truth he read and wrote greek ,hebrew and Aramaic Christs own language.

In the begining there were only 2 types of Christians here those who paid penance and those who did not those who did read the 1611 King James and those who felt they were free thinking enough for themselves to talk to God and ask Christ for forgivness themselves chose not to pay penance. and they read the roughly the Geneva Bible the one bible not corupted by the English or motivated by anything but the truth within the true words of God, brought on by the Protestant reformation.

and why do you think today The Declaration of Independence is so highly guarded? the point is not the it was lost it is that it was ever written at all. the frame of mind the people who wrote it were in when they risked their lives writting it. it was a pact.
