Video of two pileated woodpeckers working on a power pole while it's snowing. We have seen one of these birds in our yard nearly every spring and fall for the past 5 or so years. This year I discovered the two of them traveling together. We live in Northern Minnesota. They were filmed using a Canon Powershot S3-is digital camera from about 35 feet away. (the original is much more clear)

  • These were around 10 inches from beak to tail

  • I thought I heard that they confirmed a sighting of the ivory-billed a few years ago. I could be wrong.

  • No, you're not wrong - I worded that poorly - I should have said "formerly thought to be extinct"

  • is this the giant woodpecker in arkansas

  • I suspect you're thinking of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker thought to be extinct.
