This is especially useful if you use the Rode video mic with a dead cat. When you use a wide angle lens you can see the fur when zoomed back. This device lifts it out of frame...
BTW I was told at a camera store that these devices would never become available because Sony would sue anyone who tried to market it. I ended up super-gluing the cover closed and then gluing on a cold shoe.
Wish I'd seen this first!
