Dwight Trible "John Coltrane"

An excerpt from Dwight Trible's 'Horace' CD a homage to Horace Tapscott. 'John Coltrane' is my favourite track on the album. This except gives a taste of Tribles amazing and often avant garde jazz vocal style but the full track (11mins) has other vocal harmony elements that are quite unique.

Yes it is certainly a very original tune. The most interesting elements all come in toward the end (not on this recording) Dwights slewing harmonies are amazing and unlike anything I have ever heard before.

I think someone is actually getting closer to Leon Thomas's approach to vocalization! Also a male vocalist who reminds me a little of Betty Carter. I truly miss Leon and Ms. Carter. I do appreciate this unfamilar singer to me Dwight Trible and look forward to more from him.

I had the honor of hearing him perform live at the UCLA Royce Hall back in '06. He left a deep musical impression on me.
