Side launch of the 280 ft Harvey Spirit at Eastern Shipbuilding Group in Panama City, Fl. This vessel works in the Gulf of Mexico as an oil platform supply ship.

It made a bigger splash than some expected, and a couple of vehicles got a salt water bath from those huge waves! Sorry for the color settings being wacked.

  • @lovelydiva06 They have a lot of weight on the bottom. That's also why they don't tip when in heavy hurricanes. And they have 3 methods of launching. Look up ship naming and launching on wikipedia for more info.

  • good launch

  • OmGosh, incredible scene! I've never seen a ship being launched this way. Always by front or rear...

    Quite interesting. Thanks for sharing!
