This is an Eastern Cottontail rabbit ripping up my lawn to make a nest in the backyard! So cute and such a busy worker! She obviously doesn't work for the state because there would have been 6 other rabbits sitting around watching her and drinking iced coffee.
@ColdSideOfPillow136 - Once these vermin start reproducing in your yard the young WILL stay there if there is a food source such as plants and/or a garden. Cottontails reproduce at an astounding rate, so a few litters down the storm drain is like throwing a deck chair off the Titanic. It may not be the P.C. thing to do, but whatever...

I see no reason to take a life for some grass. (though I suppose they could get into the sprinkler system/pipes while digging and cause damage. But maybe just chase them off? They ARE part of the ecosystem.

No need to start a war here fellas. You are both entitled to your opinions. Let me just go on the record by stating there is an amazing abundance of wildlife in our suburban backyard. They are very enjoyable and entertaining to watch. The grass grows faster than an army of rabbits could ever possibly devour. The amount of "damage" these little guys cause is of no consequence.

Rabbits where here way before you, they need a place too!
We are taking away all there wildness by buliding.
Have a little sympathy asshole!!!

@thelastthane: They are nuisance animals who can have dozens of offspring every year. When they start tearing up the yard it's time to meet Mr. Pellet rifle. Don't worry. There are plenty to go around.

They are so cute. I have a bunch of them on my lawn. They have babies every Spring. I noticed the rabbit always took the path near your basement each time she got grass for her nest.
