Canada has some of the slowest speed limits in the entire developed world. Even some developing nations such as Pakistan travel faster than we do in Canada or the USA. In some countries people travel more than twice as fast as we do here in North America. The 50 kph over law works great in a perfect world, but this isn't a perfect world. Instead it's a global world and we must compete in it. Canada cannot globally compete at the speeds we are presently going to move people, goods and services.

agreed. think of the autobahn. But i must say having lived in both the USA and Canada the average speed of drivers on the highway is faster here by about 20kmh IMO.
