Once again, the Action 10 Crew unite to bring you this hilariously odd story set in a paper mill town during the generational turn of the late 1970s to the early 1980s, Big Smokey and the Shankers is the first chapter in a trilogy which focuses on a series of events centered around the actions of the film's principle antagonist, Honeysuckle (Rose Person), the leader of the 3rd Street Shankers; a moonshine tax gang lead by crime boss, Big Smokey (Robert Reid) and his obsessive son, Richie (Booker T. Reid III). Our story begins with Honeysuckle and the Shankers falling behind on bootleg fund collections while under the pressure of the Deputy Sheriff (Brandon Thompson) due to late bribe funds. It was just another day of bad collections until a mysterious soldier returning home from the war wanders into town and frees the Richie's kidnapped love, Mary Sue (Key'era Rozier), from under Honey's appointed supervision on the eve of his return home from his long excursions up north. Now Honeysuckle must deal with the trials and tribulations of 70s villainy as she finds her way of one dilemma and into another. See how Honeysuckle manages to worm out of the the trials and tribulations of villainy in this showcase of criterion camera techniques, blaxploitation comedy, and 70s Hong Kong styled action, in which we are truly left marvel in the false hedonism of gang life only to discover the price of evil and find that we happen to be a bit short on collections that day.
