HOD3 with Laser Toy Gun - Interactive Projector Screen Demo

Here's Sufi playing "House of the Dead 3" (PC version) with a M16-Replica Laser Toy Gun. Targeting and shooting the zombies is by using the laser marker on the M16.

We have sort of hacked an ordinary projector screen and made it into an interactive one, and in this video we demonstrated how we can play an arcade shooting game with it.

The projector and screen are ordinary ones just like any others in our labs. A webcam is used to detect the presence of any lightspot (ex: from a laser pointer) on the projector screen. A program running on the computer then finds out the position of the lightspot on the screen and uses this info to position the computer's mouse cursor.

The S$22.00 M16 lookalike Toy Gun comes ready with a laser pointer built-in, so there isn't much we need to do to make it work with our prototype interactive screen. In the end, we simply inserted a wireless mouse into the gun to control the firing and reload functions for the game.
