As Ibex said, it wasn't about Obama, this was a cathartic moment for ALL Americans. Afterward, whether you agree with his politics or not, the symbolism is there.

I hate it when black people in America demand to be called African Americans. If your born and raised in America, then your AMERICAN. Not African American, but if they're gonna continue to play that card then I want to be called European American.

People should remember that what happened on November 4th wasn't about Barack Obama. He wasn't the miracle. The miracle of that night was that America was finally able to look past color and make its choice.
President Obama is human, he'll do some good things and he'll fuck up and make mistakes and disappoint people too. Most of the people who were crying were crying because of the significance of the moment and what it said about this country's power to tolerate, not for the guy they elected.

I am black and hate how everyone was acting like Jesus made his second coming to earth. Everyone was saying how America would be totally different. They fail to realize that Obama doesn't represent them; he represents the liberal upper middle-class. I didn't vote for him, but I'm glad that he won.
