On May 21st 1987, 22 young social workers, lawyers, businessmen, theatre practitioners and other professionals were detained without trial under the internal security law and accused of "being members of a dangerous Marxist conspiracy bent on subverting the PAP ruled government by force, and replacing it with a Marxist state." A second wave of arrests took place on June 20th the same year.

On 21st May 2009, which marks the 22nd anniversary of 'Operation Spectrum', a group of concerned Singaporeans demonstrated against the treatment of the detainees who were detained without trial under the ISA.

  • without pap , singapore will still do well. we have infrastructure in place, civil institutions in place , reserves and singaporeans are tougher than they think.

  • @wendyneo Right On Wendy!!!!!

  • @TheMarinecorps2010 Your logic amaze me. Had Raffle never step foot in

Singapore, there will never be Singapore!!! Blah, blah, blah.

'Belfast' was sung forties years ago, where were You!!!!

  • @rambo12352

wendyneo is as fervent an opposition supporter as you are a PAP supporter. You are free to choose whom you support and so is she. The only difference is that you can do so freely because you will not be penalised for it. I should like to see you stay fervent and true to your beliefs in reverse situations cuz that would truly show your character, if there was any.

The opposition party members in Singapore are risking their lives for the sake of democracy in S'pore. We need them!

  • @rambo12352

You seem to be a strong PAP supporter. What wendyneo has done is merely being fervent in her beliefs, just like you. I think most of us Singaporeans can decipher fact from fiction, truth from lies although for a loooong time, we have tolerated speaking out.

  • Well done kids!!!

  • @rambo12352 perhaps that explain why you are a loser while wendyneo is not. you are too afraid to do anything. what a waste of your ... namesake. wendyneo is a more deserving rambo.

  • @wendyneo It is really because the opposition does not provide a compelling alternative. Just look at how the speaker in the video reads off the script! I believe politics is about delivery just as much as agenda.

And Wendy, I'm actually quite a fan of your work(s). But your acid delivery can be double-edged. That said, if you'd ask me to zao Singapore like you did: No thanks. I was born in Thomson and will be cremated in Mandai.

  • @wendyneo I wouldn't go so far as rambo has done below me to call wendy a bitch. But, I would love to make the point that she does not represent us --- Singaporeans.

We firstly, do not call people names. We respect each other's opinions and value input over silence. What I see here is, put simply, is a little heart-wrenching for any Singaporeans to read.

Next, I think most of us are actually aware of the PAP transgressions. We don't do anything about it not because we're afraid.
