Impossible... or so they said, at the time, but smart use of the in-cartridge SFX2 21hz coprocessor chip made famous for Starwing/Starfox (using the previous version of the SFX Chip @11hz version) managed to see Doom ported on the humble Super Nintendo. For this amazing feat, floor and ceiling textures were gone, the view size was a bit reduced from full screen, but everything else, was in there. An amazing accomplishment even by todays, and it still managed to be a better port then the Sega 32x port. Heres me having some nostalgic shotgun fun.
Nice to see this pop up in Go Nintendo:

Must have been embarrassing to get killed by a zombieman at the end.

@Snotnarok It's ironic, given the Saturn port lags to hell, so the console BEFORE it performed better. Go figure.

@tightlypackedcoil it doesnt have the best control's but i do have to say its slightly better than 32x cuz the the genesis controller doesnt even have shoulder buttons so you have + you need to get the 6-button controller so you can switch weapons and use map and to strafe you need to hold down a button in order to strafe
im not saying the snes version has best controls if you look at my last comment
and adding a a 3D game with texture on snes is a rare thing since star fox came out

@killkenny5000 You're either really young, or English isn't your first language because you seem to be really confused. First of all, you were the one claiming that the controls were "very good" ("superior to 32x") when they really aren't for the reasons I mentioned. Secondly, sticking to walls has nothing to do with the game being "16-bit." It is the fault of the custom engine used in the SNES version. What do I expect? Not much. Some quality control would be nice.
