You could power your laser using 3x or more 9v batteries in paralel insted of using thouse expensive ones. Try to put a contact heat sink to prevent overheat.

Use a tripod. It will make it easier to demonstrate and you wont shake :)

@FlawlessVizionz08 I'm not sure how much the dvd burner costs that you bought but it's surely more then the 10 dollar diode which can easily be bought online.

must i use a driver, or something easier would work just fine?
can i also use the whole dvd drive head with its optics instead of using AiXiz things?

@app0the Yes you need a driver as laser diodes are very very sensitive. Yes you'll need the AixiZ module else you wouldn't be able to focus the laser.
