its because the i7 is that much faster with cpu intensive tasks. The PII is really good with games that require alot of power from the video cards and ususally keep a better minimum (EX: crysis)

I don't actually get it, you say that with the same specs except the CPU you get 3 more fps on I7 and the settings are higher on the I7 than on PII?

well theres about 3 fps difference in gta4 on average, with higher settings.....i was doin about 3902 in winrar with hyperthreading off

Also, can you tell me the numbers, how much is the I7 faster in GTA in frames? Sorry to bug ya. And what is your WinRAR score?

Hey sling, good choice with waitin .....dx 11 cards only like a month away. Really the only difference between the phenom and i7 is gta 4 and ut3 gaming wise. At 4.2 ghz it stomps all over my phenom in video encoding....probably because of the faster cache

Hey beef (this is Slig0), I must say you made an excellent choice. Now you have two top end platforms... I'm so jealous :P But by the way, I am not gonna get another 4890 even though I considered it because I'm waiting for new DX11 goodies to CrossFire! By the way, which CPU is faster in gaming and is there a large difference? Also, how much exactly is the I7 faster in encoding? I heard that AMD handles encryption better than I7 also.

he didnt spend $800, and its not an "upgrade" as in replacement its a second build, hes running 2 PCs at once one i7 and other Phenom 2 955

he got this cause it was used and a D0 stepping for a good deal, not replacing AMD just looking for somethig new to push, he cant push AMD any further bassically maxed out the 955, theres also no new AMD cpus coming out soon that will be any better than 955 at overclocking. and they still got a few bugs to work out on phenom 2 yet(memory controller sensitivity)
