Rich and the Poor Boys with the new poor boys Jerry Salfi / bass + Grant Marchand / drummer + Paul Sonier / lead guitar + Rockin Rich / vocals, harmonica. Now based out of Niagara Falls this new band relies on veteran leadership from all members of the band. Jerry Salfi has played professionally for more than 40 years leading a number of top Niagara Bands.Jerry is the bedrock of the band and has the best bottom end of any bassist for miles around. Grant Marchand has played drums since grade 7 and most recently has played with the Port Dalhousie based band THE ODYSSEY BLUES BAND. Grant has the sweetest shuffle this side of Chicago.Paul Sonier is a virtuoso guitar player that started playing country but got bit by the blues bug. He most recently lead the St. Catharines based band the BLUES HOUNDS. Paul has distinguished himself as one of the premier blues guitarists in Canada. Paul can sit back and compliment the other band members or rip thru some of the most exciting lead guitar licks you will ever hear. Rockin Rich has a dynamic stage presense and unique vocal style. His harmonica playing is ferocious with big fat tone that distinguishes himself from other harpslingers. Together Rich and the Poor Boys are greater than the sum of their parts. They are a polished band that plays with poise but is never afraid to go out on the edge. Each and every song they perform sets them apart from every other blues band north of the mississippi. They are playing the most exciting and vital blues music to be heard anywhere. Hearing and seeing them is a unique experience. When you see them perform you are immediately aware of the raw energy and passion that eminates from the stage. They inject vibrant new life into classic blues music while still remaining true to the long tradition of the blues. They are one of the only groups of musicians in Canada to parallel the blues bands of Chicago. When looking for fun, excitement and rip-roaring rockin' blues music Rich and the Poor Boys are a must see. They should not be missed.
