  • I agree. John spans lots of genres and is always experimental.

I think this is the studio version anyway, so he has every reason to perform it as it is on the record.

A performer has an obligation to the audience to set a particular tone, mood; not everyone wants to hear something ultra deep and intense; not all the time anyway.

I love all his sounds, whether he's alone and acoustic or with a band and electric.

  • Let´s face it, John (Wayne) Martyn´s music was the only decent music in the 80´s. To refer to the comment made by "atmos 111" ,actually...curiosity only kills "stupid" cats! So get on yer horse!!

This show was tailor made for the (absurd) situ (just look at the set up)!

Check out the BBC (Audio) CD of the same year live at Glastonbury for a better result. John strechted his music for us,so stretch your ears for his music.

    Rock in Peace John x

  • @unriselyrical agree 100%

  • Seriously...for the people screaming about it not stacking with the original....THINK! He is performing this in a different era ENTIRELY. And there is QUITE OBVIOUSLY a different desired aesthetic on stage where this is being performed....you have to consider it IN CONTEXT.

  • really like this version - from a couple of years after i starrted seeing him ...sadly late...really good version, thanks for posting

  • TOO GOOD!

  • This was broadcast on UK television in the late 80s early 90s. I can remember because i taped it on yo VHS at the time

It is from a European (German I think) music programme.

  • I duno I think that the acoustic version of the song was far better. Fair play to the man if he wants to change it up a bit though. Its his music!

  • Ah no, seriously, it's a very poor version of the song. It sounds like it's being covered by Curiousity Killed the Cat or someone.

There's much better versions on here.
