Kashgar, a diverse border town on China's western frontier, recalls the old world and evokes images of a Silk Road trading stop. Kashgar's animal market and Sunday goods market display the spirit and diversity of Uighur culture.

While Kashgars animal market features packs of braying donkeys, unwieldy camels, horses and Uighur herders and traders, the Sunday goods market features sounds, images and smells more reminiscent of Central Asia than of China.
