I just took a deep breath and watched some more of this.

Good heavens. This is so bad it actually is painful to watch.

May I suggest to the gentleman that he remove these videos from youtube.

He is doing nobody any favours, least of all himself.

'Teachers' of this sort saddle students with bad playing habits which are difficult to remedy later on.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Please remove these videos or atleast let people know THIS IS NOT proper playing of Sitar. Also, sitar is a sacred instrument and your presentation is disgraceful. You play the instrument as if it were an electric guitar as well as give very bad feedback on how to meend correctly or when/how to use chikari.

TO ANYONE WATCHING - please note this IS NOT PROPER TECHNIQUE and it is worse than anything because it is branded as proper.

I´ve watched this embarassing wrong teaching video a few years ago and can´t believe, that it´s still showed. so again: THIS is totally out of tune, each movement is wrong and this moron hasn´t got any basic idea of how the sitar should be treated.

I have seen Ravi Shankar hold the sitar exactly like that. What raga is that you are playing? Very impressive! Keep up the good work :)

@polsitar I think this guy is doing a fine job. I find it very informative. I learned how to bend the sitar and produce vibration of notes on my sitar just watching this video. I hope he produces more videos. I know he is not a master sitarist, but he is getting there. I find his explanation very valuable and I am sure I am not the only one!

@mhatra I think you have to encourage people. I know you might be jealous for not being able to post a video or play as good as this guy does, but you must understand that he is doing a fine job. I know he doesn't have a drum accompanist, but overall he is doing a great job. You guys should listen with an open mind and heart and appreciate the valuable explanation this guy is giving. I don't know why people are so narrow-minded and bigoted!!

Great job! I was wondering how the sitar players were producing bending sound. Thanks for showing the technique, man. Did you take any classes? I want to learn how to play the sitar. I bought one a little while ago and I play it once in a while, but it will be cool to learn from someone who knows how to play it. Do you teach any classes or do you recommend anyone? I live in Virginia. Thank you.
