Driving our Ransomes steam wagon to the Lake Goldsmith steam rally May 2009. Seen passing through the township of Carngham about half way there. Only 3 of these wagons exsist in the world today.

  • Wonderful stuff ! I'm in QLD and starting to get a real taste for steam ! More so steam wagons do u have any advice ???

  • @OldTimeyGraeme They are not easy to find, there are so few left now. Also they are expensive to buy and maintain ( boiler cert mainly), BUT they are also heaps of fun to drive and I cant think of a better way to waste my money. Beats the pokies anyday.

  • I ask you: what kind of coal did you use for firing this steamer? ahaha, It looks like an euro -10. And people are blaming diesel bcuz they pollutes and smokes. Humbags...

  • @hdug86989 We were burning Newcastle coal that day. It was good stuff with little ash content and a tendancy to burn away to almost nothing on the grates. It did generate plumes of black smoke tho, although that could also be Viv, our fireman who doesnt mind blanketing the district!!

  • Have you ever taken this for a spin around London?

  • @DeLorean4 Never have. Would love to but being in Australia means it would be expensive...

  • is it epa aproved?

  • We took a 6 Ton Foden round Sloane Square in London once in the 1980s, and were overtaking cars on the Hammersmith Flyover on wthe way back home to Brentford!

  • What would one of these in running order cost, and how much do they weigh? Because I'm so far from the UK now, the shipping cost might be more than the purchase price.

I do believe that where I live (Portland area of Oregon) that one of these would probably generate enough envy to be worth the purchase. :)

  • @hdug86989:

Most of what´s leaving the stack is steam(not more then gassified H2o), only very few of it are coal cinders ! BTW Nice engine and very well on the run !

  • do that truck have air conditioning

  • Cor Blimey! Where did he get all of those dirty socks to throw on the fire?
